How to Hire the Best Remote Tech Talent
Great remote tech hiring is unglamorous. It is the discipline of writing the role clearly, evaluating fairly, communicating quickly, and closing honestly.

Write the role like a strong candidate will read it
Strong candidates skim vague posts. Specificity — about outcomes, stack, seniority, and how the team works — attracts the right applicants and repels the wrong ones. That is the point.
Evaluate the work, not the pedigree
Weight what the candidate has actually shipped over the logo of their last employer. The work is a much better predictor of what they will do for you.
State your timezone expectations honestly
Candidates appreciate specificity about overlap. They will accept four hours a day of overlap if that is what you need. They will not appreciate discovering it after signing.
Close with respect
Send offers with context. Explain the compensation philosophy. Give the candidate access to the manager to answer real questions. This is where offers land or fall over.
